The local Woombye Primary school was after a rebrand of the logo used for their sports uniform.
After some research I discovered that “Woombye” is an Aboriginal name meaning either “place of the black snake” or “place of the black myrtle tree”. There is conflicting information arguing for both definitions.
So my solution was to create a design using the aboriginal-style effects to acknowledge the local traditional owners and reference both the black snake (which the school currently uses on their uniforms) and the unique berries from the nearby myrtle tree.
